The month of April - the start of spring, the opening of the festival season, and, of course, the month of our king’s birthday! Our beautiful association had again organized a whole range of events during this period.
At the start of this spring month, “Sensation Pink Vol. II” took place, this time in cooperation with U.H.S.V. Anteros (GLBT+ student’s union Anteros in Utrecht). There was a lot of dancing and drinking going on that night! In case you missed this edition: keep an eye out on our social media channels. Details on the next edition will be online soon.
For the very first time on April 7, A.S.V.Gay had organized an activity with the COC branch Jong & Out (Young and Out). When a member of Jong & Out turns nineteen, this person may no longer remain a member of Jong & Out (membership is up to and including eighteen). This joint activity was an introduction of A.S.V.Gay to the members of Jong & Out. We briefly told the members who we are, what we stand for and what we do. Later, we all played an introduction game. All in all, it was a very successful afternoon!
As a board, we are in our seventh month. The first half year was extremely busy, full of new, but also old and familiar activities. Time certainly flies, and life on the board is busy. However, in addition to all the stress it (sometimes) entails, we fortunately also have experienced many beautiful moments. I get more energy from all those beautiful moments; energy to continue and to make the remaining months a great success.
The board wants to make a fantastic year of it. We will also be working on and with the next board in the coming months. The applications for the tenth board are coming in, which is a strange sensation. We will be in charge of this fantastic association for another six months, but we will also be working on our replacement by a new board. For now, it is mainly about who will be applying for the tenth board and more importantly, who will be nominated for the candidate board by our application committee. It’s all very exiting!
Finally, we still have plenty of activities planned for the upcoming months. Many of these activities are for our own members, but other activities will also be organized together with our sister associations from all over the Netherlands. You will find us in Groningen on May 3 for drinks with our sister association! In addition to this, we will paint the town of Milan red at the beginning of May with our “Mafia Madness” trip.
Around Ascension Day, all A.S.V.Gay members will bring their brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, adoptive family, friends and supporters along for the one and only A.S.V.Gay family drink. In other words: there is plenty to do at A.S.V.Gay.
