Rotterdam Pride will exuberantly celebrating its fifth anniversary from September 27-30 with a diverse, innovative and creative program for everyone!

The event will start on Thursday, September 27 with “Confab: Fabulous Conference of Love.” In 2016 and 2017 Rotterdam Pride organized seminars, while this year, in collaboration with various organizations, these will be transformed into a cultural and knowledge experience. The conference “I’m not just a Me, but also a We!” examines the challenges associated with the goal of attaining an inclusive port city. From 15:00 till 17:00 there are various workshops and activities, and from 17:00 till 19:00 there will be a cultural program and a talk show. The conference will be held in the Doelen on the Schouwburgplein.

This is followed by the spectacular Kick-off party “Take off to the Port of Love” from 20:00, the "official" start of Rotterdam Pride. The Pride Loveboat departs at 20:30 from the Leuvehoofd Park and sails through the Rotterdam harbor in rainbow colors, under the skyline of Rotterdam and the Erasmus Bridge. In addition to various performances, Rotterdam DJs, including Jeff Solo, Quinten de Rozario and Rotterdam Pride ambassador C’est Lou, will bite the beat up to 2 a.m. Tickets are available via starting at € 7,50 (Super Early Lover) to € 12,50 (Regular Lover), excluding service charge.

On Saturday, September 29, the streets of Rotterdam will color all the colors of the rainbow during the “Pride Walk: Show your Love.” Everyone is welcome to take part in this Pride Walk through the centre of Rotterdam, together with friends, family, acquaintances and colleagues. The ambassadors of Rotterdam Pride will proudly and spectacularly lead the way. You should not miss this spectacle! The participants of the Pride Walk gather at 11:00 in the Leuvehoofd Park. The walk starts at 12:00 and ends around 13:00 at the Schouwburgplein, where the “Pride Festival, United Love” begins.

The Pride Festival starts with an exuberant welcome to all the Pride Walk participants in the largest Pop Up Park in the world. The Schouwburgplein will be transformed during the Pride Festival with a Flying Grass Carpet into a large sunbathing area with various food trucks where people can enjoy tasty drinks and a diverse range of food. The program of the Pride Festival will again be special this year, typically Rotterdam and very diverse. In addition to a musical program with various performances, good food and drinks, various organizations will organize special Pride festivities. It promises to be a spectacle with dance, performances, party and much more at the Schouwburgplein, ending at 22:30.

On Sunday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m., “Unicorns & Zebras,” a unique festival for families and children, will be held at Schouwburgplein. “Unicorns & Zebras” is the very first Pride Family Festival in the Netherlands that is especially for children, families, young people, grandfathers and grandmothers. Everyone from zero to a hundred and upwards is welcome in the largest Pop Up Park in the world. For “Unicorns & Zebras,” the Schouwburgplein will also see a transformation into a large and colorful playground full of music, performances, workshops, make-up and of course “Unicorns & Zebras” food and drinks. This family event ends at 18:00.

In addition to the above events, Rotterdam entrepreneurs and organizations will also organize many other events, such as the “Keerweerparade” where famous Dutch performers will perform (Gerard Joling, Johnny de Mol and Willeke Alberti), a “Cocktailfest” with no less than eight different ingredients, a HIV get-together by the COC, and much more.

During this fifth anniversary edition of Rotterdam Pride, the local sports association “Ketelbinkie” is also celebrating its anniversary, namely its twenty-fifth. A quarter of a century ago, several gay volleyball players got together and decided to establish “Ketelbinkie,” the first and (at the time) only gay sports club in Rotterdam.

Now, twenty-five years and more than three hundred members later, it is high time to celebrate this. With a swimming, squash, running, tennis and volleyball tournament, the association will reflect on this jubilee. In addition to athletes from “Ketelbinkie,” athletes from other Dutch and foreign GLBTI sports clubs will also participate in this tournament. See for more information on this anniversary tournament.

Keep an eye on the website for the Rotterdam Pride program.
