Backdoor’s anniversary in January means a big celebration! The organizers have a big surprise in store for us: on January 27th, Backdoor is back with Superstar DJ Phil Romano at pop temple Melkweg. This legendary DJ will spin an extra-long set at this “Anniversary Fest”.

“Phil’s performance in the Melkweg will undoubtedly be the highlight of our party. We have managed to get the biggest act ever in the history of Backdoor. Given Phil’s busy schedule, no one expected him to confirm. Fortunately, he managed to make some time for us.”

“Backdoor is celebrating its third anniversary, and we wanted to give it some cachet with a three-hour set by Phil Romano. Luckily, he is full of energy. We will be open longer than usual, to seven o’clock in the morning!,” tells Jurandy.

And what does the full program bring? “Besides Phil Romano, DJ Thomas Solvert will spin, as well as Backdoor resident DJ Diego Summers. The second room will be hosted by DJs Maxime Duvall and Lupe.” But that is not all... “We’ll have sexy go-go boys for the ‘Shake That Booty’ section,” Lucas says with a smile.

Phil Romano was born in Rome on December 4, 1979. He was an athlete at a young age, but his aspirations in that direction were cut off when he moved to Melbourne, Australia with his parents at the age of nineteen. He says he cultivated a more open-minded view of the world because of this move. It had a huge impact on his love for music. His special relationship with music has made him one of the most famous DJs in the gay club scene.

In 2002 he moved to Los Angeles, where a new world opened up to him. Phil has built up a large network there. He has always been curious about new music and discovering new styles. It has given him a rock-solid foundation, and a strong sense of independence. His curiosity and strong belief in himself led to the discovery of what he calls the Atlantic Sound: born from a fusion of his favorite music styles that made this whole new sound come to life. The Phil Romano sound.

Back in Europe, he has become the resident DJ in clubs across the continent. He performs as guest DJ in the biggest gay clubs and festivals world-wide. Nowadays, he is one of the best-known DJs in the gay scene.

In June 2009, his first own song “Express Yourself” was recorded with Danny Verde, in a collaboration with Anna Buckley. It became a worldwide hit, followed by the songs “Suffah” and “See the Light.” His love for own releases does not stop there. “Cuidado” - a song for which he himself provided the vocals - and “Everybody’s Heart” with the great artist Maya Simantov are some of his more recent releases. He is currently working on a new album that will be released in the summer of 2018.

Some years ago, Phil moved to his new home base Barcelona. When on tour, he wants to continue learning about the latest music trends and give that knowledge a place in his music, which is characterized as full of energy and emotion. His motto: Life is short. Live it intensely!

Phil Romano spins at the “Backdoor Three Year Anniversary Fest” on January 27th.
