Pam Ann On Tour: Amsterdam & Antwerp

by our Editors in Media & entertainment , 10 september 2014

Comedian Pam Ann: ‘Gays Have Always Been My Family, So I Go Where My Friends Go’ “Ladies and Gentleman, this is your captain speaking, we would like to welcome you on board to our PLANE FILTHY Flight, and would like to thank you for flying Pam Ann airlines. Cabin crew, arm doors for departure and buckle the f**k up!”

Pam Ann, the alter-ego of Australian writer and comedian Caroline Reid, is coming back to Europe with one of her filthiest, funniest, most explosive show to date. Pam Ann will guide you through the conundrums of air travel and the quirks of some of the biggest international airlines and stereotypes commonly held. With enough “chutzpah” and insider knowledge to rival a Qantas CEO, no one serves a better airline satire quite like Pam Ann. Pam finds no shame in air travel and nothing will be left untouched.

Reid has toured the world with her portrayal of the outrageous air-hostess and has featured in advertising campaigns for British airways and sky team. She has appeared in promotions for lots of different airlines and was also seen on CNN and CnBC.

Pam’s genius mix of camp, culture, humor and sheer fabulousness has seen her crew Elton John’s private jet, share a stage on a stadium tour of the UK with Cher, and count Madonna in her legion of cult-like dedicated fans worldwide.

The show will travel to Stockholm, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Zurich, Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, and Antwerp.

Icon of Gay Humor

How did you come up with the character of Pam Ann?
“Alcohol and being surrounded by drag queens and gays.”

In what sense are you influenced by the drag scene?
“I didn’t go to regular school, I went to the school of dragatic arts and they taught me everything I know. I love them, they are my inspiration and family.”

Pam Ann is an icon of gay humor. Why is that?
“I think they see color and movement and big hair.”

Twenty years on stage and sketches, where do you find your inspiration for each show?
“Observations during my travels. I am basically on a plane every week flying somewhere, sometimes I think I am a real flight attendant – art imitating life! I am also inspired by all my smart ass friends and fabulous cabin crew, but most of my work is from my own observations and opinions.”

You once said in an interview you never hung out in straight clubs, even though you are a straight woman. What attracted and attracts you to gay clubs?
“But am I straight? Gays have always been my family so I go where my friends go and that just happens to be gay clubs! Thank GOD!”

Does improvisation always take an important place?
“It is how I like to perform, no show is ever the same. You have to feel and work with the audience’s energy. Bill Cosby once said, ‘If the audience trust you and you trust them, then all the doors in your head open,’ which makes for a magical show.”

If you had to live on a lovely island for the rest of your life, what would you take with you?
“Black cock, cocaine and Xanax.”
