More Misery for Gays in Uganda

by our Editors in General , 20 augustus 2014

The president/dictator of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, announced in response to the US lowering the amount of developing aid that residents of Uganda will see higher and new taxes. He now wants to tax vital products such as bread, vegetables, rice, and water. These taxes will result in an increase in hatred of homosexuals.

The newspapers in Uganda are already contributing to this by publishing inflammatory articles in which homosexuals are blamed for the upcoming taxes. Many gay activists now fear that it will result in a true witch hunt if president Museveni continues on this path.

And all of this in a situation in which homosexuals already have to fear for their lives, after the implementation of the anti-gay law earlier this year. In September, it will be announced to what degree Meseveni wants to up taxes, in response to the actions taken by the United States. Other countries preceded the US because of Uganda's anti-gay legislation.

American president Barack Obama recently declared that new action needs to be taken against Uganda because of these anti-gay laws, with homosexuals now risking live imprisonment. President Obama also stated that military cooperation will cease, developing aid will be lowered, and that a number of citizens from Uganda will no longer will get visas for the US.
