Fashion: New Yorker & River Island

The German fashion label New Yorker is on its way to become one of Europe’s biggest. At the moment, it has more than a thousand shops in thirty-nine countries worldwide.

In The Netherlands, this “fast fashion” brand has stores in Amsterdam, Hoofddorp, Arnhem and Rijswijk, among other cities. In 1971, the company opened its first store in the German city of Flensburg. Now, the label services more than four million consumers, thanks to a strong urge of expansion on the European market.

With its jeans and sports & street wear, the label primarily focuses on a young and trendy target group. It leaps on the latest trends in fashion and has everything manufactured in house. The label also has an extensive accessory line, and all items in the New Yorker collection are manufactured through their own label.

The New Yorker Foundation, set up in 2008, promotes cultural activities for underprivileged youth.

River Island
For more than sixty years, the British fashion label River Island has been successful in the fashion industry. It has more than three hundred stores in the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle-East. Affordable and trendy apparel that stands out from the garments currently on the market. Almost everything is designed in house, and with a quick supply of new items, in physical stores as well as on the Internet.

This spring-summer, River Island capitalizes on the floral trend for men by extensively showing it in its collection. River Island is environmentally conscious and recycles materials when possible.

Also, the fashion label has its heart in the right place by giving a lot of financial support to British charities, such as the British Red Cross, the Epilepsy Society and Drugfam.
