Introducing... Taylor Lautner

by Editorial Staff in Media & entertainment , 24 maart 2010

Early January rumors started circulation on the internet that Taylor Lautner had died. Taylor who? Taylor Lautner, born February 11, 1992 and a popular actor in the series “The Twilight Sage: New Moon,” which hasn’t made it to the Dutch television, yet. Lautner began acting in 2001, appearing in the made-for-television film “Shadow Fury.” He subsequently had roles on several series and also appeared in a number of other television shows and movies.

He appeared as himself in “America’s Most Talented Kids,” putting on an exhibition of his Martial Arts skills. He is an accomplished martial artist, having studied karate at Fabiano’s Karate School in Holland, Michigan from the age of six to thirteen. When he was eleven, he was ranked number one in the world for NASKA’s Black Belt Open Forms, Musical Weapons, Traditional Weapons and Traditional Forms and, at the age of twelve, he won the Junior World Championships. His big break came in 2005 when, at the age of thirteen, he won the role of Shark Boy in the Robert Rodriguez film, “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D,” a film that showcased his martial arts skills. In October 2008, Lautner played Christian Slater’s son in the television series “My Own Worst Enemy,” until the show was canceled after only nine episodes. Lautner then played Native American character Jacob Black in “Twilight,” the movie adaptation of the novel by Stephenie Meyer. Due to major physical changes that occur in the character of Jacob Black throughout the series, the director of “Twilight”’s sequel, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” considered replacing Lautner with a different actor in the second film. In an attempt to keep the role, Lautner weight-trained extensively, gained approximately 30 pounds and reprised his role as Jacob in “New Moon.”
Shortly after the rumors of Lautner’s death started circulating, a representative of Summit Entertainment told “E! News”: “I am almost 100-percent positive this is a hoax.” Well, that’s kind of an Internet honor... It wasn’t that long ago the onetime Sharkboy was fighting to keep his “New Moon” role, and now he’s a chiseled cinema stud who will soon be starring with fellow death hoax victim Tom Cruise. As a result of this film, according to Deadline.com, the 17-year-old star will become the highest paid teen actor after receiving his paycheck. And that can only mean one thing: Some knucklehead had to go and claim Lautner’s gone to that great wolf pack in the sky. At least they gave him a unique demise. Unlike many others, Lautner didn’t “die” at the hands of an infamous New Zealand cliff. Some so-called reports accused the 17-year-old of a cocaine overdose. It’s not so bad. Joining such undead luminaries as Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Miley Cyrus and even “Twilight” scribe Stephenie Meyer, Lautner can count himself in elite company.
And by the way, on the same day his death was announced, the organizers of the Golden Globe Awards announced Lautner will be presenting in the flesh on Sunday, January 17. So, let’s wait and see...

Inquiry tells us that everything is alright with Taylor Lautner. (editorial staff)
